Tim graduated from Bristol University in Physics in 1974, going first into oil exploration, and then mainstream ‘big company’ electronic design. In 1978 he returned to academic life at the UK ‘Institute of Oceanographic Sciences’, being credited as sole researcher producing the first working ship-borne ‘Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler’, and a seminal published paper on the work that set out all the principles for what is now a mainstream ocean research tool. However he preferred commercial life, returning initially in a sales role in the geophysics industry. Since then he was Chief Engineer at Valeport Ltd, and started setting up Scimar Engineering Ltd in 1987

Andy Spillman BEng (Design Engineer)

Andrew Spillman graduated from Bournemouth University in 2007 with a first class honours degree in Applied Computing & Electronics. His industrial placement year was at an associated company where Tim Crocker was CTO. He joined Scimar Engineering on graduation. He is responsible for all code development in ‘Split-Pi’ and also undertakes electronic design, CAD work, development of external processor control software and build and test procedures.
