Scimar offers a complete electronic and electro-mechanical bespoke design and build service. We have capability across most aspects of electronics and computing, and some areas of applied physics, acoustics and mechanical engineering.

We have full National Instruments electronic CAD (MultiSim and Ultiboard) with schematic capture, simulation and PCB design, up to 32 layer capability. We also have in-house MyData Pick and Place and Asscon Vapour Phase soldering and a full suite of electronics test equipment, with a strong high current capability up to 300A.

We have also recently added a mechanical engineering cabability aimedparticularly at the electronics industry, with Solid Works mechanical CAD, Sprut-CAM tool automated toolpath CAM, and a recent XYZ MM560 NC mill. We also have strong links with local high precision mechanical engineering companies  for more complex work.

With electronic and mechanical engineering we can offer fully integrated solutions. The oceanographic and geophysical origin of the company leave us able to supply 'fully weatherproof' solutions, including underwater housings, and these disciplines serve us well in the harshest environments, including industrial and military applications.

We have a strong precision analogue and DC power electronics capability which we can integrate if necessary with microprocessor control, and so we can provide those skills in design that are in particularly short supply.

Recent work for third party clients include high bandwidth data acquisition and transmission for a sonar application, and implementation of data checking and encryption algorithms in micro-controllers.
